1972 Yamaha R5

Here we go on another 2-stroke. The precursor to the RD350 the Yamaha R5. Just like the RD this is a 350cc double pumper. The plan for this is certain but all of the details aren't sorted out yet. I'd like to throw a RD400 or RD350 motor in here. The R5 is a piston port engine w/ a 5 speed while the RD's and today's 2-strokes come with reed valves. The other advantage of the RD350 or RD400 motor is the 6 speed tranmisson.

In a perfect world this bike, or whats left of it when we're done, will get tuned chamber pipes, a single seat section, some clip-ons, new paint, new tires and a spankin new chain. I'm sure other things will be added to the list but that should paint a pretty picture for now.
